I remember my first Baffler. I bought it because a TA I had a crush on recommended it. Issue 8. I recommend the Artie Shaw articles. (I became sort of obsessed with Artie Shaw following this. Suppose I had a crush on him too.)
I read it pretty loyally until it stopped for a long while; have been bad about keeping up since the re-launch. And if you are too lazy to go through the archives, Commodify Your Descent is pretty terrific. Although if are not lazy but want some guidance, I guess you could use the table of contents as a starting place? Or just go with the Paris Review recommendations.
